Our Process

We place emphasis on traditional Italian shoe making techniques. We believe such techniques are irreplaceable in maintaining the structure and function of a high quality product at the same time our research and development team focuses on applying new technology to improve upon traditional shoe making methods.

Allowing shoes time to breathe and rest between manufacturing stages is a critical factor in shoe quality. Handmade shoemakers like Chérie let the shoes naturally rest, mould and breathe between stages which make a huge difference to fit, durability and look.

Forming the last

A last is a mechanical form that has a shape similar to that of a human foot. It is used by shoemakers in the manufacture of shoes. Lasts typically come in pairs and have been made from various materials, including wood, metal and plastic. A shoe is designed around the last.

We either make lasts from scratch using casts, measurements or we modify existing lasts from our archives

Pattern Design

Different factors like gait, foot shape, support requirements, style, ease of wearing, type of leather go into the process of designing a shoe pattern.

Leather Upper

The term "upper" refers to the part or parts of a shoe that cover the toes, the top of the foot, the sides of the foot, and the back of the heel, it is attached to the outsole of a shoe.

We choose only the finest Italian leather sourced from rare Italian tanneries to make soft and breathable leather uppers, which adapt perfectly to the shape of the feet like second skin and give the feeling of walking around barefoot.

Cutting leather is like magic, only a pair of skilled hands can do it! Once the leather is cut, it is stitched together to make the upper.

Lasting the Upper

The leather insoles are trimmed to the feather edge of the last to seamlessly blend the upper to the sole of the shoe. The uppers are then hand-drafted and then stretched to take the form of the last. A firm heel counter and toe-puff are inserted to reinforce the upper, giving them greater structural integrity and support.

Soling and Finishing

This is the step where long-lasting, lightweight, flexible and anti-slip out-soles are attached to the soft handmade leather upper using different techniques.

Quality Control

We take extensive measures to ensure the shoes that reach our young patrons have met our strict quality control requirements for a delightful user experience.
